The Math Minor
The logical, computational, and problem-solving skills that are developed
in mathematical training make mathematics an excellent choice as a minor
for many majors. This document is a guide to the requirements of the mathematics
minor. If you have any questions, consult a math adviser: see the list in
567LA.

Six (6) Courses Total A minimum of two courses must not be required by the major.
Two (2) calculus courses MTH U241, MTH U242
Biology Majors may substitute MTH U151 and MTH U152.
Linear Algebra U371
Engineering majors who take the two courses U341 (calculus III) and U343 (differential equations and
linear algebra) need not take U371.
-
One (1) upper level mathematics course selected from MTH U3xx or higher
Note that many of the 400 level courses have U341 (Calculus 3) and/or U371 (Linear Algebra)
as prerequisites.
-
Two (2) upper level mathematics courses selected from MTH U4xx or higher.
NOTE: In planning your schedule be aware that
many upper level (U4xx and higher) courses run in alternate years, and are only
offered in the Spring or Summer I semesters (but not both).
