Coop Positions for Math Majors

The Coop Program at Northeastern University offers the student the opportunity to spend a three-month or six-month period of time working at a job related to his or her field of study, gaining valuable experience and getting paid at the same time. The program is optional for mathematics majors; however, the problem-solving skills that are developed in all math classes, supplemented with specific expertise in such subjects as probability, statistics, combinatorics, differential equations, and computer programming, give the math major a wide range of Coop opportunities. Actuarial Firms: Use probability and statistics to analyze the coverage of life insurance, retirement policies, etc.

Education: Teaching in private or public grade schools, secondary schools, or institutions of higher education.
